Mix’cité: a Socially Engaged Project for the City of Verviers

8 November 2024

On November 7, UMAN held a press conference in partnership with Habitat Invesdre, W.Alter, the Services of APEM-T21, and the City of Verviers to present Mix’cité, a profoundly human project that places social aspects and solidarity at the heart of its development.

At UMAN, humanity and solidarity are part of our office’s DNA and are central to all our activities. We firmly believe that architecture can be a vehicle for change, a means to rebuild and revitalize territories so that they become more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable places.

Once renovated, the former building of the Christian Mutualité chosen to host Mix’cité will include 14 social housing units and communal spaces dedicated to activities, local associations, and actors in the social economy. The idea is to create a genuine living space where encounter and conviviality are fundamental values.

Mix’cité is therefore not merely a place to live, but a meaningful project that fosters social ties, solidarity, and cohesion among residents. Values we share and are proud to promote to build a fairer and more humane society.
