AIDE Administrative Building

Construction of an extension to the administrative building of the Liège-Sclessin wastewater treatment plant.

The extension is connected to the existing building via a secondary volume that bridges the two entities at the level of vertical circulation. In this way, the connection to the existing building is as functional as possible without causing significant modifications to it.

The offset relative to the existing building is intended to maximize solar gain, given the south-facing orientation of the main façade.

The main volume is covered with a flat roof, as is the secondary volume. This choice was dictated by the particular roof shape of the existing building to which the extension connects. Using a flat-roofed volume also makes the building more compact, thereby maximizing energy efficiency.

The building includes, across its two levels, individual and open-plan offices, as well as service spaces (restrooms, kitchenette, archive room, and technical room).

The blue zinc cladding is intended to echo, on one hand, the metal cladding of the existing building, and on the other hand, the thematic color of A.I.D.E., namely blue.
