After a year and a half of construction, the municipal school in Witry was officially inaugurated on Sunday, 27 September. Designed by UMAN architect, the new building features natural slate and timber cladding and replaces the former kindergarten premises, which had become too outdated and too small.
Designed as a monolithic volume that continues the existing built environment, the building accommodates three kindergarten classrooms, four primary school classrooms, a psychomotor development room and a large covered playground. The original building has been reorganised to accommodate the dining halls and two classrooms for specialised subjects.
For UMAN architect, this type of project goes beyond simply constructing a school building: it contributes directly to the life of a municipality such as Léglise and to the future of the generations of pupils who will walk through its doors.
