On 24 September 2026, 170 professionals gathered at the Domaine des Grottes de Han to discuss the use of timber in public procurement.
Organised by Ligne Bois, the back-to-work gathering focused on the theme “When Public Procurement Goes Green: Inspiration and Lessons from the Field.” The presentations showcased a wide range of public projects in Wallonia and Brussels and provided practical insights into the use of timber in this type of project.
UMAN architect attended the event and took the opportunity to present the energy renovation project involving 84 homes for the Société du Logement de Grâce-Hollogne. The renovation features a prefabricated timber overcladding system, creating a second skin around the existing buildings.
Another highlight of the evening was a round-table discussion bringing together representatives of public-sector clients and institutions: the Société Wallonne du Logement, the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and Wallonie-Bruxelles Enseignement, IFAPME, the Société du Logement de Grâce-Hollogne, the Alliance Bruxelloise Coopérative and Le Forem. The discussion provided an opportunity to address openly the questions, challenges and, at times, concerns expressed by professionals in the sector. The speakers responded candidly, leading to a direct and constructive exchange.
